Cereal and a Highchair

Edmund tried out his highchair and some rice cereal this past Friday, November 18th.  He was so excited to be in the highchair and gave Mommy and Daddy big smiles and joyous kicks.  Edmund also sported his bib that Mommy and Daddy bought about five years ago at a garage sale for our someday kid.  We think he wears it pretty well and exceed our expectations with how cute our kid would be wearing it.

We decided to give cereal a try too and went with your basic rice cereal.  He liked the spoon and did pretty good with the first bite, but didn't seem to want much more after that.  So we waited two days and tried again last night (Nov. 21).  This time he ate ALL of the cereal which is basically half because he dribbled out the other half  trying to understand the concept of a spoon, the new way of swallowing, and waiting in between bites.  The waiting seemed  to be the hardest ;)

Edmund was such a sport for trying cereal for the first time that he was rewarded with some new toys to play with in his highchair.

Edmund's Five Month Photos

Edmund is 5 months old!  He can turn on his side and it's only a matter of time before he can roll over onto his belly.  He loves his feet and grabs them any chance he gets and will occasionally see how they taste too. He does much better with tummy time and can lift his upper torso up.  He had his first Halloween and dressed up as a Moogle, felt pumpkin guts, and experienced trick-or-treater's at the house.  He also discovered how much fun bouncing on a leg can be and enjoys flying.  He still cuddles, nuzzles, laughs, and coo's which Mommy and Daddy love.

Pumpkin Guts

Edmund had his first experience with a bowl and with how the inside of a pumpkin feels. He was overall very cautious and looked at pumpkin guts, with an occasional touch here and there.

Go Warhawks!

On October 22nd we met up with Grandma Ellie, Grandpa Bill, and Grandma Eda in Whitewater for breakfast before heading to the University of Whitewater campus for homecoming.  After filling our bellies Bill and I went with Edmund to show him around.  Our little Warhawk soaked it all in and we think next year he'll really enjoy the parade and alumni tent.

Song for a Smile

Edmund's current favorite song:

Mystic Mysidia from Final Fantasy 4.

Saturday Mornings

Every Saturday for the past month or so we've had a little family time in our bedroom.  It's always so delightful hearing Edmund talk, and watching him smile, wiggle, play, and kick around, but on Saturday mornings we get to soak all of these things in and not feel rushed to go somewhere or get something done.  It's a perfect way to start off our weekend and reconnect with one another after a hectic week.

The Great Pumpkin

We went to our local pumpkin patch just outside of town to get the Wilson family pumpkins.  This was Edmund's first experience with pumpkins, an animal farm, haunted hay maze, and cut out picture board photo ops.   Mommy and Daddy took full advance of his cuteness and posed him all around the patch.  We can't wait for next year when he'll stumbling his way through everything.
